Mabalingwe - "The Place of the Spotted Leopard"

The malaria-free Mabalingwe Game Reserve covers more than 12 500 hectares of soft rolling hills and is home to the Big 5. The Mabalingwe Game Reserve which is situated in South Africa's northern Limpopo Province is also home to hippos, giraffe, hyenas and sables to name but a few of the 36 species of wildlife. For the bird lovers there are more than 250 species of bird to be spotted. The Mabalingwe Game Lodge provides affordable accommodation from self-catering chalets to en-suite lodge rooms and rustic bush camps. Guests are invited to enjoy game viewing from open safari vehicles or atop the ambling gait of the horses, with sleepovers at the various bush camps.

At Mabalingwe there are a number of recreational activities to be found such as the tennis courts or the squash court. After a memorable day of activities, guests may relax with a superb meal in the Tshukudu restaurant, and sipping cocktails against the backdrop of the setting sun, listening to nocturnal calls of the wild.


Accommodation 

Guests may choose from different accommodation options Lodge, Chalets, Bush Camps.

The Lodge

The Tlou Lodge at Mabalingwe is made up of 53 stylish chalets and can accommodate a total of 106 visitors. The Tlou Lodge is an ideal "getaway" home for those guests not wishing to be involved in anything more than nature and its animal life.

Two sleeper lodge rooms

The fully inclusive two bed standard lodge rooms at Mabalingwe are stylishly and comfortably furnished and consist of an en-suite bathroom. All rooms are equipped with phone, television facilities and coffee & tea station. The lodge units at Mabalingwe are situated in close proximity to our state of the art conference facility, central sports area and convenience shop.

Three bedroom self-catering units

The Tlou camp also consists of nine six bed self-catering luxury units each of which is equipped with state of the art kitchen appliances. The six bed self-catering units consist of three en-suite bedrooms which feature phone, mini bar (optional), television facilities and coffee & tea station. The fully equipped kitchen also consists of microwave, 320L fridge/freezer and patio with braai facilities.

The Chalets

There are five thatched camps stretching from Kubu Camp at the northern tip to the southernmost Ingwe Camp situated next to the main Mabalingwe camp buildings.

The dwellings on all five of these camps at Mabalingwe are self-catering chalets complete with lounge, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. Amongst other features of each building is the patio and braai area from where the visitor to the resort is able to enjoy some of the Limpopo Province's most remarkable sunsets.

The four and six bed chalets provide the traveller with "home from home" comforts and whether it's a summer or winter visit Mabalingwe has got to be judged as the perfect "all year" round experience.

Caravan & Camping:


A short journey from major city centres in Gauteng means that you will be able to enjoy the bushveld in all its glory without having to recover from your trip. Fully tarred access roads make arriving at camp a sheer pleasure, with 67 exclusive and generously shaded stands. At night, when the lazy smoke of barbeque fires fill the air and the aroma of juicy titbits cooking on an open fire entice the taste buds, new friendships are formed and memories of the good life is imprinted into the mind of every guest. In addition to a central entertainment area with digital satellite TV, the Caravan Park also features fully equipped ablution facilities, a hot and cold swimming pool as well as a baby pool, a shop, play area for children with trampolines and, of course, the unforgettable beauty of nature.

The Bush Camps 

Pitsi Bush Camp

The Pitsi Bush Camp  caters for a group of ten people, which is hidden away from the rest of the camps on the reserve. For guests who seek ultimate privacy and a great bush experience, this would be the camp of choice. With electricity in the camp, this bush retreat is fully equipped and has hot and cold running water and a splash pool to make use of in the heat of summer.

Kalahari Bush Camp

The Kalahari Tented Camp is privately situated at the foot of the mountains rolling through the reserve, and caters for family and group getaways.

With 5 tents connected by a wooden walk way, guests will experience luxury and still cater for themselves. The camp consists of five luxury twin bedded tents with en-suite bathroom, fridge, coffee/tea station, electricity and is joined with a wooden deck walkway. All five tents are hidden between lush Bushveld trees and private from each other. The central, fully equipped kitchen and lapa is situated at the end of the walkway and is easily accessible. A central kitchen, lapa and ablution facilities are available to guests in very close proximity.


Conferences:

The Tlou conference centre has the capacity and flexibility to cater for functions of up to 250 delegates on a full board basis. Guest accommodation is provided in either twin bedded rooms at the Tlou Lodge camp or in timeshare units. All timeshare camps are within a few minutes drive of the main conference centre, which is conveniently located close to the Tshukudu a-la-carte and Kubu Boma bush restaurants.

Games Drives: Guests  have the opportunity to experience Africa in an open game drive vehicle. Game drives are available all through the day at different times.
Night Drives: enjoy a night game drive with the lodge's trained and qualified field guides to shine some light on nocturnal animals such as owls, jackal, bush babies and many other creatures of the night which provides for a very educational experience.
Guests are also allowed to do game viewing with their own vehicles during day time only.
